Sewing patterns are a great source of both history and nostalgia. I remember the excitement as a child going with my mother to the department store and pouring over pattern books looking for patterns for back to school, summer wear or that all important Easter dress.

I always marveled and still do at how my mother could take those small pieces of printed tissue and pinning this way and that cutting and sewing and turning it into a beautiful outfit. Sure I had lots of "store bought" clothes but there was a special pleasure in watching Mom add a pocket to a pocket-less pattern or change the sleeve or the fit so that it was custom for me. So as an extension of the "print" concept of my internet store; I am proud to offer a wide range of sewing patterns vintage and up to the minute modern.

I do sew but not as well as I should so I turned to Mom for help with reviewing patterns, judging their condition etc. She has 62+ years of sewing under her belt as do most of her friends, so I felt she was qualified. Current patterns are all new and uncut - envelopes are bright and shiny. All other patterns have been opened examined - all pieces counted and instruction sheet verified. There are some patterns for 35 cents each on the bargain page- and from time to time some bargain lots as well going for bargain prices.

A word about conditions and terms used

Factory folded = pattern pieces still retain their original folds when produced by the manufacturer

Dates = where shown I have used the copyright date on the pattern - if not known I guesstimate looking at style, original pattern price, hair styles of models, a smattering of internet research etc.. these guesstimates will be shown like 1970s ? or 1940s ? If you know more info about the date of a pattern than I do I certainly welcome your input.

Condition:

  • Uncut Factory Folded includes all instruction sheets, guides etc as shown on the pattern envelope

  • Uncut or Untrimmed and Refolded looks like it may have been taken out and then re-folded - has been checked for completeness includes all instruction sheets, guides etc as shown on the pattern envelope

  • Untrimmed by Cut Apart - Pieces have been cut apart from the main printed sheet but the pieces have not been trimmed instead pattern has been refolded and replaced in envelope - All Instruction sheets and pattern pieces are there.

  • Trimmed or Partially Trimmed - has been checked for completeness contains all instruction sheets If it is a multi sized pattern it will be noted at what trim line that pattern has been cut.

  • Trimmed and Incomplete - missing pieces are noted.

Each pattern is stored in a heavy duty bag (I now use non reactive bags safe for archiving i.e. comic book bags); and will be packed carefully to prevent weather damage during shipping. Larger patterns like the old Strech-n-Sew aren't bagged.
